Start the year 2020 with change!
Welcome to the year 2020!
2019 was the year I began openly posting to social media about my families personal experiences. Experiences of raising biracial children, experiences of strengthening a marriage formed from two very different upbringings and cultures, personal fears and struggles I deal with and how I overcome them, and strategies of how we are making a conscious decision to raise our boys different from typical societal norms.
For a year now, I have had numerous people ask me when I was going to start my own blog. Due to my fear of the unknown, I would just smile and avoid the question. I even had people offer to pay out of their own pockets to start me a blog. But what they didn’t realize was that at that time, they wanted success for me more than I wanted it for myself. I had the $100 to begin the blog, I was just comfortable sharing my experiences on Facebook and bartering nachos and boudin balls (it’s a Louisiana food you must try!) for parenting advice at football games.
I was denying the true potential that was inside of me to make a real difference and reach people outside my Facebook friends list and the small town of Watson. Before I knew it, almost every time I would create a Facebook post there were several people requesting for me to make the post public so that they could share the information with their friends.
January 1, 2020 (start of a new year)
I made a decision to stop living content and to push myself out of my comfort zone. As a birthday present, January 1, 2020, I treated myself to my first blog! Without change, there is no growth. This year, I will embrace change and will no longer accept comfort and habit.
I challenge you to change something about your life in the year 2020! Change your wake up routine, change the way you communicate with others, change the negative relationship you have with your family, change your work habits, change the foods you eat, change the things you spend money on, change your contentment in being comfortable! You can do it! Focus on one thing, & start NOW!
