We bought a FORECLOSURED HOUSE!
Our family of 6 was living in a singlewide mobile home pretty much on top of each other! I had been house searching for a while. Doing the flip house a few years ago made me certain I didn’t want a move in ready subdivision house. I wanted a house that needed work & was on some land.
I typically will go look at any potential house alone, peak through the windows, check out the area, and walk around the property before I contact my realtor. December 2023, I did just that. Found a house same school zone & 4 minutes from where we were living. After doing my personal analysis, I went to see it again with my realtor, put in an offer and started the negotiation process.
We were buying a FORECLOSED house that
my husband hadn’t even seen yet!
After several negotiations, we had the house PENDING! It was a structurally sound house on 5.5 acres with 4 bedrooms and an office. In addition to no air conditioning, dog hair EVERYWHERE, a horrendous smell, holes in almost every wall of the house, broken windows, boob lights, and several other concerns. Now this should show you just how supportive my husband is. After about 2 weeks of having the house pending, I asked him if he would like to see it! We were buying a FORECLOSED house that he hadn’t even seen yet!
Closing the deal was NOT EASY! We went through 2 relators (not the 1st ones fault), 2 lenders (the 1st one backed out on us after trying to talk us out of buying the house), contract extension fees, and several months of having no clue if we were going to ever close!
It took us 5 months to close, but with persistency, we closed in May 2023! The past few months we have been making the house a home. Follow our journey for our renovation updates!
